Lauryn Filipkoski (Softball)

Lauryn Filipkoski has been involved in fast pitch softball for 15 years as a player and a coach.  She began playing softball at age 6, playing in the Blakely/Peckville Valley Area rec league teams.  She began her pitching career at age 8, where she traveled weekly, until age 18 to the Allentown area for private pitching lessons.  Lauryn continued to play in the valley softball rec league until she was 14, played travel ball from age 12-18, and played on the Carbino Little League softball team from age 12-16 where she had the opportunity to play in the district championship. 

She continued her softball and career at Valley View High School from 2002 – 2006 winning 3 consecutive District championships.  She was also named all regional for her pitching performance in 2006.    Lauryn earned a scholarship to College Misericordia where she played for one year then transferred to Bloomsburg University.  She finished at Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education, and completed her Master’s Degree at Wilkes University with a degree in Math. 

Lauryn just recently began her coaching career at Mid Valley in 2012.  The Mid Valley coaching staff invited her on as their pitching coach.  She continues to work with the pitchers and the rest of the team, and looks forward to continue building the Mid Valley Softball program with the rest of the coaching staff.

Lauryn resides in Jessup, and is employed by the Scranton School District.
